I'm James Butler. I'm a graphic designer born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I think this city is pretty amazing, and I am committed to helping it continue to be beautiful. I'm constantly inspired by its people and their ability to create.
Starting my career as a builder and fabricator for custom architectural pieces for retail and office spaces, I gained a unique perspective for how to design a better product. I have done a range of work from package and print design, branding, signage design, all the way to custom fabrication and woodworking. I like to think of myself as a versatile and tactile designer. I am passionate about telling stories through design, and helping to create environments.
I work at a firm called Arcturis, a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design firm, where I work on a wide variety of projects. One day, I will be working on brand development or creating branded environments alongside interior designers, and then the next, I'll hop over to logo design, signage design, or print collateral. I love working with clients and helping the people and their businesses bloom into something beautiful. I am passionate about seeing my ideas come to life into something that has form an dimension.
Complementing my passions for design, other things that motivate me are traveling, trying new foods and restaurants, all things St. Louis, campfires, camping, dabbling in film photography, renovating my 1986 Camper, and of course, coffee.
